Artek, Inc. and GAPI USA Plastics Streamline Hot Dog Processing from Line to Oven

High-performance plastics from Artek Inc.® and GAPI USA® play critical roles in food manufacturing environments, where hygiene, durability and thermal resistance are essential.

In the production of hot dogs, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW) from Artek is used throughout processing lines to facilitate efficient, non-stick movement of products. UHMW is well suited to food contact applications due to its low friction coefficient and abrasion resistance. These properties allow it to reduce equipment wear while maintaining clean, contamination-free surfaces during high-speed operation.

For bun production, Gapi USA® supplies polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) rollers used in commercial baking ovens. PTFE’s high-temperature tolerance and non-stick properties support consistent baking while withstanding repeated thermal cycling. The material is chemically inert and FDA compliant, making it ideal for direct food contact and is easy to sanitize.

By reducing friction, resisting thermal degradation and maintaining hygiene, these materials help manufacturers meet production demands while adhering to food safety standards. The use of UHMW and PTFE in food processing equipment exemplifies how performance plastics contribute to reliability and efficiency in industrial-scale food production. www.artek-inc.com, www.gapiusa.com

PLASKOLITE Materials Support Lightweight, Durable Components in RV Design

Recreational vehicles (RVs) require materials that balance durability, weight reduction and resistance to harsh conditions. PLASKOLITE offers a range of thermoplastics suited to the demands of mobile living environments.

TIMBERLINE® Woodgrain HDPE is engineered for cabinetry and kitchen installations in RV interiors. The material offers high performance in terms of strength and wear resistance while maintaining the aesthetic appeal of wood. Unlike traditional materials, HDPE resists moisture and impact, making it well suited for high-use areas with fluctuating temperatures and humidity.

SEABOARD® Endurabond® Expanded PVC is designed for structural and bonding applications. Containing 100% recycled content, it contributes to sustainability while offering mechanical strength and dimensional stability. Its resistance to rot, corrosion and water intrusion makes it a strong candidate for use around RV motors, pumps and utility compartments—areas often exposed to moisture and vibration.

In wet environments like showers, VERSEK® ABS provides an affordable and functional solution. It is lightweight, impact resistant and less prone to cracking than traditional shower materials. ABS is also easy to clean, offering long-term durability and ease of maintenance in tight, high-traffic spaces.

For mirrors, PLASKOLITE’s FABBACK® acrylic mirror reduces weight compared to glass and offers increased safety due to its shatter resistance. These benefits are especially important in a mobile setting where weight distribution affects fuel efficiency and materials must endure road vibration.

Together, these materials illustrate how performance plastics can contribute to the overall safety, efficiency and comfort of RVs, while addressing the challenges of weight, moisture and constant movement. www.plaskolite.com
