King StarBoard™ WG from King Plastic Corporation

King Plastic Corporation introduced King StarBoard™ WG, an all-weather wood grain polymer sheet. It is environmentally stabilized to withstand harsh conditions and the wood grain finish is on both sides of the sheet. King StarBoard WG will not rust, delaminate or rot when exposed to UV, humidity or water. It is suitable for various applications, from replacing wood to building furniture. The wood grain polymer sheet never needs painting or refinishing, works like wood and is easy to fabricate with standard woodworking tools and techniques. King StarBoard WG is available in five colors: mocha brown, nutmeg, indigo, charcoal gray and slate gray. Sheet size 48" x 96" and gauges 1/2" and 3/4".

“Our American craftsmanship and breakthrough innovation make us different,” said Michael Fabbri, national sales manager for King Plastic Corporation. “King Plastic pioneered King StarBoard®, the original marine-grade polymer sheet. Now, we deliver the highest performance and durability in our new wood grain plastic sheet with elegance and casual sophistication for outdoor living. AVONITE® Flex bathroom fixtures
AVONITE® Flex from Aristech Surfaces LLC
Aristech Surfaces LLC introduced AVONITE® Flex, a patent-pending ultra-formable solid surface, designed to give a refined look to sinks, baths, formed wet walls and other sanitaryware and bath applications. AVONITE Flex serves the needs of two distinct customer segments: sanitary applications that require practical materials for B-to-B clients — easy to mass-produce, customizable, durable; and interior design materials that are elegant, pleasantly warm to the touch, offering unlimited design characteristics and geared to private customers looking to give their home an additional element of comfort without sacrificing style.

AVONITE Flex features chemical and stain resistance allowing it to withstand the intensive cleaning regimes in the commercial application space. Its non-porous, bacteriostatic surface limits the growth of micro-organisms, making it a hygienic material. AVONITE Flex is a new formulation in solid surface offering functional properties such as: supplied in sheets or rolls, the sheeting is 3.2 mm thick and is available in widths of up to 108 in. /2740 mm and two colors: Alabaster Wave 8705 and Pure Alabaster 8701. It can be formed over sharp angles and hard-to-reach recesses. AVONITE Flex is lightweight, making it easy to handle in the workshop, in transport and during installation. Aristech Surfaces LLC created AVONITE Flex with a luxurious, soft matte finish. As part of the AVONITE line of products, AVONITE Flex offers the brand’s soft feel and signature texture. Like other AVONITE materials, AVONITE Flex can be milled, machined, etched and stamped. It does not require manufacturers to invest in new equipment, as it can be produced using conventional molds and vacuum forming systems with no additional investment. www.aristechsurfaces.com.

Afton Plastics PFA tubes
Custom color PFA available from Afton Plastics
Afton Plastics can add colorant to several polymers without changing the performance characteristics of the material. The company announced the availability of perfluoroalkoxy (PFA) for custom colors, adding to its ability to provide custom colors for polychlorotrifluoroethylene (PCTFE), fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP) and ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE). Custom color matching can be required for welding or a color-coded part for an assembly. The company’s capabilities include the entire process from formulation to production and machining. www.aftonplastics.com.
Inspria® Med dental aligner
Exolon Group adds Inspria® Med to its portfolio of sheets for medical applications
Exolon Group’s Med range now includes Inspria® Med, made of Eastman Tritan™ copolyester. The solid sheets for medical applications complement the sheet materials Exolon® Med and Vivak® Med. Exolon Group’s Med product range covers applications ranging from dental aligners and rigid medical packaging to containers and trays for medical devices.

Inspria Med can be thermoformed to extreme degrees of stretching and accurate mold surface reproduction, making it suitable for the manufacturing of dental aligners, for example. The clear, transparent sheets made of copolyester can withstand temperatures up to 194°F/90°C and are easy to process. The material is suitable for various methods of sterilization, including gamma radiation and ethylene oxide.

Vivak Med, made of Eastman Eastar 6763, is suitable for deep-drawn containers and trays for medical devices and skin contact applications, such as prostheses. The material can be rapidly thermoformed without pre-drying, with low energy consumption, short production cycles, extreme stretching and accurate mold surface reproduction.

Exolon Med, made of polycarbonate, is highly impact-resistant and suitable for rigid packaging. Exolon Med sheets can be thermoformed, cold-curved and machined with ease. They can withstand temperatures up to 248°F/120°C.

All Med-Range products are made of 100 percent virgin material that meets the requirements of ISO 10993 for the biological evaluation of medical devices. The sheets are produced in accordance with good manufacturing practice (GMP). The manufacturing process is subject to constant control by a quality management system that meets the ISO 9001:2015 standard. Processors can thus trace the sheet material down to the raw material — an important basis for further documentation of future end products. www.exolongroup.com.

Asahi/America actuators in MasterSpec®
MasterSpec electric actuators
Asahi/America, Inc.’s electronic and pneumatic actuators have been added to the control valves specification section (230923.11) of MasterSpec®. The Series 19 electric actuator and Series 79 pneumatic actuator specifications have been vetted and formatted by MasterSpec to fit the Product MasterSpec™ format. Engineers who use MasterSpec will now be able to incorporate Asahi/America’s Series 19 and Series 79 actuator specifications as the basis of design for various municipal and industrial projects.

The Series 19 electric actuator is available in four operating configurations: on/off, modulating, failsafe and modulating failsafe; and three sizes to meet valve torque requirements. The multi-voltage general purpose unit operates at a 75 percent duty cycle for more frequent cycling of the valve. Compatible with most PLCs, the Series 19 is suitable for OEMs and skid manufacturers where space is at a premium, but power cannot be sacrificed.

Asahi/America’s Series 79 pneumatic actuator is offered in glass-reinforced polyamide, cataphoresis and Rilsan-coated cast aluminum alloy; and 316 stainless steel — all of which incorporate ISO and NAMUR mounting configurations for simple installation of valves and accessories. The units are compact, yet durable and available in output torques from 59 to 40,710 in-lbs based on an 80 psi air supply. www.asahi-america.com.
