Extruflex Semi-Rigid PVC Designed for Applications Requiring Greater Stability
E

xtruflex Semi-Rigid PVC is designed for applications where traditional flexible PVC may not provide enough stability or shape retention, particularly in high-traffic environments or warmer operating conditions.

Semi-Rigid PVC
Often referred to as “semi-rigid glass,” the material combines transparency with greater structural support than standard flexible PVC. This allows facilities to maintain visibility through doors and protective barriers while providing the additional rigidity needed for demanding applications.

Swing doors with Semi-Rigid PVC
Semi-Rigid PVC can be used in swing doors, rapid doors, roll-up doors and protective panels in warehouses, food processing facilities and manufacturing operations. These applications often require materials that can withstand frequent movement and repeated use while maintaining their shape and structural stability.

The material remains flexible enough to bend or roll when required while offering greater rigidity than conventional flexible PVC. Its clarity also allows employees and equipment operators to maintain visibility through doors and partitions, an important consideration in busy industrial environments where people, equipment and materials may move frequently between work areas.

By combining visibility and flexibility with and increased structural stability, Extruflex Semi-Rigid PVC offers a durable solution for industrial doors, partitions and protective panels, where greater shape retention is required.

Lubrizol Aliphatic TPU Used in Outdoor and Recreation Applications
L

ubrizol’s ESTANE® and Pearlthane™ thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) materials are used in outdoor and recreational applications that require flexibility, durability and resistance to environmental exposure.

Products such as inflatables, life jackets, footwear and sports equipment may be exposed to sunlight, moisture, abrasion and changing weather conditions for extended periods. In these applications, selecting the appropriate material can help these products maintain their appearance and performance throughout repeated outdoor use.

Lubrizol’s color-stable aliphatic TPU provides resistance to ultraviolet (UV) exposure, yellowing, abrasion and scratching. The material also offers stain, chemical and hydrolysis resistance, making it suitable for applications where components may encounter water, sunlight and frequent handling.

The combination of flexibility and weather resistance allows the TPU to be used in marine and recreational products as well as protective films and other exposed surfaces. Its color stability is particularly beneficial for transparent and light-colored applications where prolonged UV exposure can otherwise affect appearance.

Additional applications for aliphatic TPU include paint protection films for passenger vehicles, automotive interior components and wearable electronics. Processing characteristics include thermal stability, high flow, low density and fast cycling.

Lubrizol offers several aliphatic TPU material options, including ESTANE® 9000 TPU, ESTANE® ALR TPU, ESTANE® AG TPU and Pearlthane™ TPU.
