Paul Davis Award of Merit

Dr. Keith Hechtel
In 1986, IAPD created the Paul Davis Award of Merit to recognize members who have performed exceptional, extraordinary or outstanding service on behalf of the association and the plastics distribution industry. The prestigious 2023 Paul Davis Award of Merit was presented to Dr. Keith Hechtel, Curbell Plastics, inc. Hechtel has been working in the performance plastics industry since 1986, joining Curbell Plastics, Inc. in 2005 where he is now the senior director of business development. Hechtel has become a thought leader in IAPD and the performance plastics industry. During his time at IAPD he has served on the Education and Technical Advisory Committees, authored articles for the Performance Plastics magazine and delivered educational presentations for IAPD’s webinars, annual conventions, as well as for the Women in Plastics and GenerationNext programs. Pacesetter Award

Leah Konrady
The Pacesetter Award is presented in recognition of an IAPD volunteer leader who sets the pace for the association. Leah Konrady of Konrady Plastics, Inc. is the recipient of the 2023 IAPD Pacesetter Award. Konrady is the incoming chair of the IAPD Government Relations Committee.

“When Leah Konrady joined IAPD, everyone took notice,” said IAPD CEO Susan Avery, CAE. “It is very rare that someone comes into an association and an industry and makes an immediate and profound impact, but that’s exactly what Leah did.”

Soon after Konrady joined the Government Relations Committee leadership, she took an active role in IAPD’s process to secure a new government relations and lobbying firm – Ogilvy Government Relations. Konrady brought her Washington D.C. experience and Hill contacts, as well as a fearlessness to question the status quo to IAPD.

Chin played a pivotal leadership role in developing a three-part video series as a member of the original Workforce Development Task Force. She stepped up into the role later as task force chair and became a strong advocate for the performance plastics industry. She demonstrated outstanding leadership in taking charge of the final stages of the project. She also made significant contributions to the task force’s efforts in enhancing skilled trade employee best practices. Furthermore, she actively engaged in the DEI+B Task Force at IAPD and authored a valuable article for IAPD’s Performance Plastics magazine on their behalf. Her strong commitment to the Women in Plastics community is highly commendable.
